How to use Bio Mat:

Install Bio Mat in the biological filtration compartment of your filter housing or sump. Ensure adequate water flow through the mat to supply oxygen and nutrients to the bacterial colonies. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for beneficial bacteria to fully colonize the mat surface. Maintain good water flow through the mat at all times as the bacteria require oxygen-rich water to survive and function. Clean periodically by gently rinsing in pond water when clogging reduces water flow through the mat. Never use tap water, soap or disinfectants for cleaning.
