The standard bell pepper for many decades, this 1928 introduction is still the largest open-pollinated, heirloom bell you can grow and is a big improvement over the earlier bells. A perfect stuffing pepper that consistently produces blocky, thick-walled, tender, and flavorful peppers. Excellent for slicing into rings for dips and salad toppings, and chopping into crisp bite-sized nibbles. Peppers are a glossy deep-green turning red at full maturity and reach 4-4½” long x 3-4″ in diameter.
Sweet-Pepper California Wonder is so easy-going, it doesn’t mind if you call it Cal Wonder. Sturdy plants produce lots of smooth, blocky 3″-4″ fruits with mostly four lobes and thick skin that ripen from peaceful, man green ✌️ to groovy orange to right-on red. Juicy and crunchy with sweet, mild flavor, and no heat. Eat fresh or stuff with chicken and avocado for a wonderful easy lunch.
