Application Guidelines for Aflasafe (Biopesticide) | 1kg:

1. Timing:

   • Apply 2–3 weeks before flowering (e.g., maize: late whorl stage; groundnuts: peg formation).

2. Rate:

   • 10 kg/ha (1kg bag treats ~0.1 ha).

3. Method:

   • Manual Broadcasting: Scatter evenly by hand or spreader.

   • No incorporation needed – spores release naturally.

4. Conditions:

   • Apply to moist soil (dew/light rain ideal).

   • Avoid heavy rain or extreme heat.

1 Plant seed of improved varieties recommended for your area. If in doubt, contact extension agents for advice.

3 Before applying Aflasafe, ensure that all agronomic practices (weeding, applying top-dressing fertilizer, etc) have been done. This is to avoid burying it in the soil. It must stay above ground.

4 Ensure that the crop is at the right stage for application. For maize, this is 2–3 weeks before tassels appear, also known as ‘flowering’.
The flowering stage is indicated on the packs of certified seed.

6 Apply Aflasafe after rains or when soil is wet. Keep it on the soil surface to work effectively. Avoid burying it in the soil.

Precautionary Control:

1. Storage: Keep cool & dry (≤25°C); use within 6 months.
2. Handling: Wear gloves/mask to avoid inhaling spores.
3. Coverage: Uniform application is vital – gaps reduce efficacy.
4. Integration: Combine with good agronomy (rotation, irrigation, pest control).
