Description
FORCE UP SYSTEMIC HERBICIDE 1L: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Active Ingredient:
-
Glufosinate-ammonium (typically 13.5% SL ≈ 135 g/L or 200 g/L).
Formulation: Soluble Liquid Concentrate (SL).
Mode of Action: Contact + partial systemic action – inhibits glutamine synthetase, causing ammonia buildup and rapid plant death.
Primary Use: Burndown of grasses, broadleaves, and sedges in plantations, row crops, and non-crop areas.
KEY FEATURES & CHARACTERISTICS:
| Property | Details |
|---|---|
| Spectrum | Non-selective (kills most emerged weeds). |
| Speed | Faster than glyphosate – yellowing in 1-3 days; full kill in 5-10 days. |
| Rainfastness | 1-4 hours (rapid absorption). |
| Residual Activity | None (inactivated on soil contact). |
| Key Target Weeds | Imperata cylindrica (spear grass), Chromolaena odorata, Amaranthus, Cyperus, and glyphosate-resistant weeds. |
| Crop Safety | Safe for directed spraying in orchards (e.g., oil palm, cocoa, citrus). |
| Packaging | 1L bottle (Saro’s purple/white labeling common in West Africa). |
ADVANTAGES OVER GLYPHOSATE:
- Faster visible action – “burn effect” within 24-48 hours.
- Effective on glyphosate-resistant weeds (e.g., Conyza, Lolium).
- Lower soil persistence – replant within 1 day.
- Less controversial – no carcinogen classification (unlike glyphosate).
APPLICATION GUIDE:
| Use Case | Dilution (per 15L knapsack) | Spray Volume |
|---|---|---|
| General weed control | 150-200 mL | 300-400 L/ha |
| Dense grasses/shrubs | 200-250 mL | Thorough coverage |
| Directed spray (orchards) | 100-150 mL | Spot application |
Critical Tips:
-
Apply in sunlight (photochemical activation needed).
-
Use medium spray droplets – coverage is critical (no translocation to roots).
-
No surfactant needed – usually pre-mixed.
-
Avoid spraying when weeds are drought-stressed.
SAFETY & HANDLING:
| Risk | Precaution |
|---|---|
| Toxicity | WHO Class II (Moderately hazardous) – skin/eye irritant. |
| PPE | Gloves, goggles, mask, long sleeves. |
| Environmental | Highly toxic to aquatic life; harmful to bees (avoid flowering weeds). |
| Re-entry Period | 12-24 hours after application. |
| Storage | Keep in original container; avoid extreme heat. |
TARGET WEEDS:
-
Grasses: Spear grass (Imperata), Elephant grass, Couch grass.
-
Broadleaves: Siam weed (Chromolaena), Pigweed, Tridax.
-
Sedges: Purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus).
-
Glyphosate-resistant weeds: Goosegrass (Eleusine), Horseweed (Conyza).
