Piper DE wormer WSP (100g)

Piperazine dihydrochloride is an anthelmintic for use in drinking water or feed. Piperazine dihydrochloride is a hygroscopic, alkaline chemical, well soluble in water. Piperazine is a selective agonist of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, resulting in the opening of chloride channels and hyperpolarisation of the membrane of the muscle cells of the nematode parasite.

SUITABLE FOR:

COMPOSITION:

Contains per g: Piperazine dihydrochloride 1,000  mg

DESCRIPTION:

Piperazine dihydrochloride is an anthelmintic that can be used in food or drinking water.
Piperazine dihydrochloride is water-soluble hygroscopic alkaline chemical.
Piperazine is selective agonist of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors that causes chloride channels to open and the membrane of nematode parasite muscle cells to hyperpolarize.
The hyperpolarization causes nerve membranes at the neuromuscular junction to obstruct, resulting in nematode paralysis, which is then excreted with the faeces.

INDICATIONS:

Piper Dewormer wsp is narrow-spectrum anthelmintic used in poultry, goats, horses, and pigs to treat roundworm (Nematodes) infestations.
It has no effect on lungworms or Ascaris worm larval stages.
  • Poultry: Ascaridia spp.
  • Cattle: Ostertagia, Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus and Oesophagostomum spp.
  • Horses : Parascaris equorum
  • Pigs: Ascaris suum and Oesophagostomum spp.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:

Animals with severely compromised liver or kidney function should not be given this medication.
Do not offer to animals that are allergic to piperazine.
Combination with organic phosphorous compounds such as pyrantel and morantel is not recommended.

SIDE EFFECTS:

An overdose can result in agitation, ataxia, tremors, apathy, and paralysis.

This equates to 32 mg piperazine per kilogramme of body weight.
  • 2,2 Piper Dewormer wsp per 10 kg body weight (equivalent to 110 mg piperazine base per kg bodyweight) for cattle, horses, and pigs.
The proportion of free base in Piperazine dihydrochloride, which is 50%, is directly linked to anthelmintic activity. The product should be used right away after being mixed with feed. Within 24 hours, medicated drinking water should be consumed. Within 30–45 days, the treatment can be repeated.
