Detroit Dark Red is nearly globe-shaped and displays a striking, deep red color. 2.5-3″ diameter roots. Stores well. These sweet beets are great raw, cooked, pickled, grated, or juiced.

Same great flavor and canning/pickling qualities as Detroit Dark Red, but with a more uniform color and shape. Deep rich red throughout, no rings or white streaks. Always sweet and rich for canning, pickling, and eating fresh. Smooth glove, slightly flattened shape. Productive and early maturing variety. Beets prefer cooler temperatures and can withstand a light frost. They can be planted in the spring for an early summer crop or late summer for a fall crop. Sow at three-week intervals for a continuous harvest. For the best germination rate, soak seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours prior to planting.
